short trip pt.1

i still remember how every time when it's the semester break, i'd be switching off my phone. doing nothing other than TV, games, reading books, sleep, more sleep, draw & of course socializing through online media PFFT hahaha but i was contented somehow before with this routine of mine :/ now it's like, i keep wanting to find me people to hang out with, but none (well maybe 1 or 2) would wanna call me up just for a short drink (or long ones) or window shopping =_= i think i have a lot more friends who'd call me up to hang out during college years somehow. haha. i wonder why is it so different here. This time, i haven't switch off my phone at all. restless. got back to my drawing & photoshop stuff. i felt a bit more, peaceful somehow. forgot everything & just focusing on what i love to do. minding my own business. :)

anyways, family decided to do a short trip to Lahad Datu (somewhere in Borneo. google it up ORZ) to settle some... business. so decided to follow along since it's been awhile since we've bee anywhere far together. Haven't been to this place for ages now. Can't really remember if there were any changes to the city or not :/

this place has this lonely, solemn air around it somehow. maybe it was because of the dark history of pirate attack in 1985.

Sept 24, 1985 -- 11 people were killed and several injured when 15 armed pirates landed on Lahad Datu town and fired randomly at the public before robbing a bank of RM190,000. The attack was over in about 30 minutes.

Police and military personnel pursued the pirates and smashed the group which was hiding on an island near international waters.

quite scary indeed. By the time we reached the town, it was almost night time. Shops mostly are all closed by 6-7 pm. So there is no hustle & bustle of a town anywhere in sight. My dad & I went down later that night to find us some dinner. we passed by a night market & even the night market doesn't seem too happening for some reason. I'm not sure whether it's my biased self talking or what, since i love to see night lights, busy streets & listening to the sounds of busy night lifestyles in towns. especially towns that, if i may say this, new to me.

enough of that solemnity LOL checked into our hotel. Mom took the liberty in choosing the family suite :X well it was on promotion anyways. room was quite big & freezing u.u haha

so the next morning, parents finished their business, & off we went to see some land & visit our grandma's sister somewhere deep amongst all those palm oil plantations!

was excited since it's been awhile since we've visited! i still remembered how when i was little, I've slept over at her place for a few times! and it made me even happier when she asked my parents for me 1st! hahaha :) upon entering her house. we were greeted by antiques. lots of antiques! made me very excited! xD

parents (well mostly my mom since they were talking in language that i barely can understand u_u) talked to her a bit, then off we go. since we don't want it to get very dark before we reach the mountain area :X

i have this habit of letting the car window down & putting my hands out. the wind felt nice!

somehow the sun begins to set & we still haven't reach our destination yet. pfft. it was drizzling too.

this picture below reminds me of some prehistoric location or something! hahaha can't help imagining some Pterosaurs (or Pterodactyl which according to some info is not quite the right term to call them flying pre-historic bird :D ) & Diplodocus roaming around hahaha. i got pretty excited again .___. hmm

after the effort of driving as fast as we could to reach the place before sunset, well, it all went down the drain HAHAHA BUT!! the night view of the place we were heading too was quite beautiful :)

thank goodness there were still some rooms left. well actually A LOT of rooms left hahaha since we went there during the off-peak season 8D

after we checked in, we head to the restaurant first. i was sooo hungry i could eat a horse or two. the restaurant have this deck which overlook the town but it was pretty dark, so all i can see was the flickering of lights in the distance. the wind was bone chillingly cold too!! i really love it though!! :) and the stars definitely shines brighter here.

i have to say... the food here in this restaurant is so-so. even the rm4 chicken rice near my place tastes better in my opinion, but the atmosphere made up for it i suppose. but still~~ :X

after all the time we spent on the road, it was finally time for bed!

p/s I LOVE the bedsheet hahaha

to be continued... maybe~
